Hi, I’m Sofia, and I’m the Deputy Editor & Media Partnership Manager at Thred. I also work closely with Gen Zers from around the world on exclusive articles and live interviews to promote the inspiring work they’re doing to make the world a better place.

During my time at the University of Exeter where I studied Spanish, I chose to spend my year abroad teaching English in Argentina and working as a journalist in Colombia before travelling across the continent with my camera.

Returning to the UK to pursue a Masters in International Journalism and an internship at National Geographic Traveller, I eventually found myself at Thred’s doors.

Now, I balance my time between obsessing over mushrooms, practising yoga in the middle of the office, and telling everyone about the new song I just learned to play on the bass guitar.

This time last year, a devastating report from the IPCC warned us that the world was well and truly running out of time to act against climate change. Opinion – Andrew Tate exemplifies a growing surge in right-wing rhetoric

Opinion – Andrew Tate exemplifies a growing surge in right-wing rhetoric

The influencer’s brand of hyper-toxic masculinity has fostered a cult of violent sexism online. With young men most easily swayed by his disturbing ideologies, Tate’s permanent removal from social media should only be the start of confronting what is a much wider issue. When I first came across Andrew Tate his ramblings were so outrageous and flagrantly misogynistic that I was certain they were a joke. It wasn’t long, however, before...

Modern pesticides are getting bees ‘drunk’

Modern pesticides are getting bees ‘drunk’

Scientists have warned that exposure to neonicotinoids – the worlds’ most commonly used insecticide – is damaging the vital pollinators’ brains, preventing them from walking in a straight line. As we know, the world’s insects are hurtling towards extinction. Among them – most alarming of all – are a species integral to our natural ecosystems and consequently, human life. I’m talking, of course, about bees, whose overall population has

Endovascular BCI company Synchron has implanted its device in a US patient for the first time, bringing the ground-breaking technology a noteworthy step closer to distribution.
