Jamie Watts

Editor in Chief London, UK

I’m Jamie (He/Him), the Editor in Chief at Thred. Keeping up with gaming and revolutionary technology is my forte, but when away from my keyboard, you’ll probably find me wrapped around a large Tango ice blast at the latest mediocre horror flick. Follow me on Twitter, LinkedIn and drop me some ideas/feedback via email.

Hi, I’m Jamie, and I’m the Editor in Chief at Thred.

I studied Freelance Journalism at the British College of Journalism before heading straight into sports writer roles for several football news outlets. Following Manchester United’s decline, I had an immediate change of heart and generously decided to lend my talents to Thred. Now, as the tech and gaming buff, I spend my days obsessing over transformative innovations while grazing on fresh fruit and the occasional hobnob.

Often referred to as the resident cockney, I like to break up the daily hustle by irritating the rest of the office. I also love a headline image on Photoshop and get aroused by a tasty gradient.

The negative commercial sustainability trend ‘green hushing’

The negative commercial sustainability trend ‘green hushing’

Through fear of being plastered with the label ‘greenwasher,’ companies are withholding details of their climate targets, progress, and even sustainable milestones. This burgeoning issue is being called ‘green hushing.’  Exposing companies for greenwashing tactics is supposed to bring about increased transparency, but for some, the mere possibility of being tarred with this brush is enough to avoid all communication on anything related to sustainability.  We’ve seen countless times in recent years how baseless green claims can...

The commercial road-map for novel chatbots has been established: complete integration into their parent company’s internet search engines. Microsoft-owned OpenAI has already combined ChatGPT with Bing, setting an early benchmark for quality within generative text AI....

Antarctic sea ice reaches lowest levels on record again

Polar scientists are scrambling for answers after recent examinations showed record lows in Antarctic sea ice. The diminishing continent could drive sea levels up drastically if current erosion rates continue. We’re breaking records year on year, but no one is celebrating. For nearly 45 years, satellites have helped scientists keep track of how much ocean ice is floating around Antarctica’s 18,000km coastline. Within these observations, it’s normal to see drastic fluctuations throughout...

Scientists examine Antarctica’s thawing ‘Doomsday Glacier’

Scientists have gotten a first look at what’s thawing away Antarctica's giant Thwaites ice shelf - dubbed the ‘Doomsday Glacier’ due to its huge sea rise potential. There’s positives and negatives to be taken.  Sea levels are said to have risen between 21 and 24 centimetres since 1880, and high-tide flooding is twice as common as it was a decade ago.  Primarily attributed to melting ice sheets and glaciers, there are...
