Megan Thee Stallion partners with Gymshark in new campaign

A week after Shane Gillis’ controversial SNL monologue, Gymshark has announced its first celebrity ambassador, Megan Thee Stallion, as part of a new fitness campaign.

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion has partnered with Gymshark as part of a new fitness campaign called ‘Megan Does Gym.’

This new marketing push includes a ton of photographs and video shot by Jack Bridgland, with Megan training alongside women from the fitness community. She leads workouts involving heavy lifting, Pilates, medicine ball drills, and her ‘Stallion Kicks’ routine, a signature move that she frequently showcases on her social media channels.

A dedicated online and in-person shopping experience is also launching as part of the campaign. Customers can browse Megan’s favourite items, both in-person and online, through a specially curated retail journey. It is a ‘hot girl’ era for Gymshark, if you will (sorry).

While obviously a celebrity endorsement and primarily a way to shift Gymshark clothing, this collaboration feels authentic given that Megan has been a lover of gymming and sportswear for many years. She previously partnered with Nike in 2024 in a campaign called ‘Hot Girl Systems,’ which prioritised fitness as a form of self-love, and shares her workouts online regularly.

‘Megan Does Gym’ marks the first time Gymshark has shifted into celebrity endorsements, and comes straight off the heels of Shane Gillis’ controversial comments on SNL last week.

Chief Brand Officer Noel Mack recently spoke to Famous Campaigns on the launch of ‘Megan Does Gym,’ acknowledging the very current internet conversation around women’s gym shorts. ‘Our community made the connection immediately,’ he said. ‘The best bit hasn’t been anything we’ve said. It’s been what they’ve said. That’s always the bit I’m most interested in.’

Noel also notes that Megan is an obvious fit for the brand, which prides itself on shifting with its audience and catering to Gen Z athletes.

‘The fit is pretty obvious. She’s been documenting her training for years. She’s a true gym girl who happens to be one of the biggest artists in the world. That was the opportunity. Not to take a celebrity and put her in some gym clothes, but to take someone who already represents so much of what we believe in and give her a platform to do it on an enormous scale.’

Megan’s focus on gymming as a means of self-care will resonate strongly with many Gen Zers who regularly exercise.

We’ve written before about how young people are embracing running and strength training, utilising both as a means of meeting new people and staying positive. Dating apps are steadily falling out of favour, as Gen Z look for third spaces where they can organically make new connections. Gym clubs, spin classes, and running groups are perfect places to do that.

It’ll be interesting to see if and when Gymshark takes on other celebrities, as the company no doubt looks to expand its branding further.
