Jamie Watts

Editor in Chief London, UK

I’m Jamie (He/Him), the Editor in Chief at Thred. Keeping up with gaming, tech, and culture is my thing, but when away from my keyboard, you’ll probably find me wrapped around a large Tango ice blast at the latest mediocre horror flick. Follow me on Twitter, LinkedIn and drop me some ideas/feedback via email.

Hi, I’m Jamie, and I’m the Editor in Chief at Thred.

I studied Freelance Journalism at the British College of Journalism before heading straight into sports writer roles for several football news outlets. Following Manchester United’s decline, I had an immediate change of heart and generously decided to lend my talents to Thred. Now, as the tech and gaming buff, I spend my days obsessing over transformative innovations while grazing on fresh fruit and the occasional hobnob.

Often referred to as the resident cockney, I like to break up the daily hustle by irritating the rest of the office. I also love a headline image on Photoshop and get aroused by a tasty gradient.

Donald Trump is still ploughing through federal laws at full throttle. The latest attempted unravelling will be met with sizable resistance, however. The US Energy Department is reportedly steadfast on rolling back energy efficiency standards for...

The adult wrestling cult

The adult wrestling cult

‘you’re breaking the fourth wall!’ Wrestling is massive again, and I’m not quite sure how that happened. Every casual conversation I have with a group of lads seems to inevitably turn to how John Cena recently turned heel. Having not tuned in at 5 in the morning, my immense powers of deduction tell me that his character arc has probably gone from good to bad. I’m 30, my daughter is up at...

Opinion – The console wars being over is great news

Opinion – The console wars being over is great news

Title exclusivity has been a major bugbear of gamers for as long as we can remember. With that potentially over, is the future of gaming looking more inclusive – and perhaps less expensive? If you hadn’t heard, the console wars appear all but finito. The tribalistic bloodshed – or more accurately, tit for tat quibbling in social media comments – has reached its logical conclusion after several decades. The short version of...

Trump is erasing public climate change data

Trump has ordered the USDA to take down government websites referencing the climate crisis. Maverick scientists are fighting back and scrambling to preserve public data. Trump still believes climate change is a hoax and is tyrannically plotting to ensure the American people take his word for it. Given there was a 40% decrease in the term across the websites of federal environmental agencies in his last tenure, scientists are bracing...
