TikTok adds new donation sticker for creators

The new tool will allow viewers to donate to charities easily and quickly, and TikTok has promised it will match the first $10 million donated over the next month.

Stickers have become a cornerstone of social media apps, allowing for easy customisation that brings a unique flavour to your streams, stories, or video posts.

Each β€˜sticker’ is a direct URL link to another site or page of the poster’s choice, making them an ideal option if you’re looking to get your audience into content outside of your profile. There’s a ton of potential to up the engagement numbers on anything you put on a sticker, too, which is probably why TikTok has just launched its new donation sticker pack.

These are available for any creator to use and will send viewers to a charity page where they can enter their details and make a donation. Charities included in the sticker pack are CDC Foundation, Meals on Wheels, the James Beard Foundation, British Red Cross, and Help Musicians if you live in the UK.

The feature is a response to the current coronavirus pandemic that’s got the world temporarily on hold (you may have heard of it), but TikTok says this will be a permanent feature on the platform moving forward with an ever-changing list of usable charities.

TikTok creators can now use donation stickers in their videos and ...

Right now, the stickers are available in the UK, US, Germany, Italy, and France, and TikTok has also said it will match the first $10 million made throughout May in charitable donations. Not half bad, eh?

All users have to do to implement these new stickers is tap on the COVID-19 donation sticker in the editing section of the TikTok app. From there, you can choose which charity your viewers will be sent to, and you’re good to go!

Hopefully this will be a nice little boost for the charities that really need extra help right now. Keeping the donation sticker for the foreseeable future is welcomed, too, as TikTok’s eye-wateringly large amount of users is bound to bring in some extra funds for all of the charities involved.

Now you can dance to The Weeknd’s β€˜Blinding Lights’ and make money for a good cause. It’s not all bad during these turbulent times.
