Nicki Minaj to donate $25,000 to St Jude’s Home for Girls in Trinidad

Upon visiting her home country of Trinidad and Tobago where she took part in annual carnival celebrations, Nicki Minaj pledged a donation of $25,000 to St Jude’s Home for Girls.

While spending time in the Caribbean, Nicki Minaj has decided to give back to her community by generously donating $25,000 to the St. Jude’s Home for Girls in her native country of Trinidad.

Paying a visit to the home last Thursday, the singer warmly thanked the teachers for ‘giving the girls hope and inspiration,’ encouraging both the staff and students to push through any obstacles that life may be throwing at them.

Spending a great deal of quality time with the home’s youth, Minaj gave a pep talk on important topics such as careers and relationships.

She even referred to her own past experience with domestic violence, which presented ‘an extremely difficult crossroads in [her] life as a teenager.’ ‘Sometimes as a young woman, when things happen, you feel like there’s no up from there,’ she said. ‘It’s very important that we never point the finger at each other though.’

No stranger to advocating women’s rights, Minaj has spoken up before, joining Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, and Lizzo in protesting the dramatic increase of anti-abortion laws around the US as part of Planned Parenthood’s #BansOffMyBody campaign.

And her humanitarian efforts don’t stop there. The singer has also suggested that there could be plans to build a recreational centre in the future, explaining that she ‘came to get ideas and you guys gave me a lot of great ideas on creating a building here in Trinidad where young people can go to and have recreational fun.’ Watch the video of her visit below:
