Hi, I’m Sofia, and I’m the Deputy Editor & Media Partnership Manager at Thred. I also work closely with Gen Zers from around the world on exclusive articles and live interviews to promote the inspiring work they’re doing to make the world a better place.

During my time at the University of Exeter where I studied Spanish, I chose to spend my year abroad teaching English in Argentina and working as a journalist in Colombia before travelling across the continent with my camera.

Returning to the UK to pursue a Masters in International Journalism and an internship at National Geographic Traveller, I eventually found myself at Thred’s doors.

Now, I balance my time between obsessing over mushrooms, practising yoga in the middle of the office, and telling everyone about the new song I just learned to play on the bass guitar.

Thred’s ultimate guide to resale shopping

Thred’s ultimate guide to resale shopping

As the resale shopping industry continues to boom, I looked into why it's so popular amongst Gen Z and have formulated my ultimate guide to buying pre-owned fashion online. Thrifting, repurposing, the trading of deadstock – you name it. They all come under the umbrella of resale fashion. Long before it became chic, rummaging through vintage markets was the best way to find original, often designer clothing without the hefty...

Fashion celebrates 50 years of Pride

There might not be a parade this year, but that hasn't stopped fashion from celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. With recent Black Trans Lives Matter protests reminding us of the movement’s political origins, many members of the fashion industry...

‘Climate change ought to hire Coronavirus’ publicist’

A wry joke that's currently making the rounds on social media highlights the concerning irony of celebrating Earth Day's 50th anniversary amidst a global pandemic. ‘Congratulations on all your success,’ says climate. ‘Can I get the name of your publicist?’ Designed to draw attention to the global environmental crisis we’re currently facing, Earth Day 2020 has been somewhat upstaged by Coronavirus. The movement’s annual event (celebrating it’s 50th anniversary today)...

Amazon-related beauty content is booming on TikTok

TikTok has become an unlikely source of beauty sales for Amazon during the Coronavirus pandemic.  TikTok has emerged as a new source for brands struggling during COVID-19 to push sales on Amazon. Looking beyond the potential stigma of selling on a platform that has deterred retailers in the past with the amount of control it exerts over the process of getting products to customers, Amazon is rife with opportunities for...

The ‘new age’ of spiritual luxury fashion

The ‘new age’ of spiritual luxury fashion

While the world spins out of control, fashion designers have begun looking to New Age practices for some much-needed healing.  ‘A lot of time we put our faith in material things, but those things won’t heal us,’ evangelised the choir leader at the last of Kanye West’s infamous Sunday Services before the pandemic began. ‘We love Jesus Christ more than an expensive outfit,’ he added. Over the past decade, New...
