The 20-year-old singer D4vd has over 33 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with his most popular song ‘Romantic Homicide’ boasting over 1 billion streams. His tour was set to finish up this month in Los Angeles.
The body of a fifteen-year-old girl called Celeste Rivas has been found in the trunk of a Tesla car belonging to Gen Z singer-songwriter D4vd.
D4vd was set to perform in Los Angeles this weekend, with an additional visit to the Grammy Museum, but both appear to have been cancelled based on their online listings.
A vigil was held for Rivas on Sunday last week on Lake Elsinore in California, while an investigation by US authorities is underway. According to Yahoo! News, the cause of death remains unknown and medical examiners are currently looking for answers.
Rivas was only thirteen at the time of her disappearance and was last seen in April last year. The Tesla where she was found was likely to have been parked in the Hollywood Hills for at least ‘a couple of days’ before it was reported to police due to a ‘foul smell.’
Crucially, the car is registered to D4vid, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.
According to the police, Rivas looked to have been deceased for an ‘extended period of time’ and her remains were not intact. They also stated that D4vd is ‘co-operating with the investigation.’
For those unaware, D4vd has been a rising Gen Z musician for several years now. His biggest songs, ‘Romantic Homicide’ and ‘Here With Me’ have been TikTok staples for a fair while, with both having over 1 billion streams on Spotify.
The singer-songwriter has followed a similar business model to other TikTok celebrities such as Steve Lacy, The Walters, and Addison Rae.
This success has translated over to brand deals and commercial partnerships, such as a Crocs and Hollister’s clothing campaign as well as a Fortnite soundtrack feature.
