what are you, a Sim?

WAKE UP!!!!!!!

Of course, routines can be necessary when working towards major goals – especially those that are time sensitive or require consistency. Making a plan and following through with it is also an important step in building self-confidence and a sense of personal achievement. These are crucial elements of the human experience, completely key to getting through life as an adult.

But in day to day, strict and arbiratry rules for myself or building my week (or life) around a rigid routine just doesn’t make me happy. I’m not a morning person and I likely won’t ever be. I’ll never turn down an after dinner espresso martini to extend an amazing night with my best girlfriends, even if that means we have to run to the station to make the last train home later. When things start to feel a little too routine, you can bet I’ll walk a different way home just for a change of scenery even if it takes 20 minutes longer.

Life consists of our unavoidable routines most of the time, but we can mitigate the mundane by seeking small opportunities to switch things up, by turning off autopilot and giving ourselves a break from what we always think we ‘should’ be doing. We should be living the lives we want.

Stay blessed!!!
