NSQK’s new project challenges for album of the year in Mexico

A fun and fresh concept is positioning this project as the album of the year in the Mexican music industry.

Rodrigo Torres, better known as NSQK, is a singer-songwriter and producer from Monterrey.

He is currently breaking into the Mexican music scene with his experimental and multifaceted style.

According to an interview with Rolling Stone, NSQK’s mission is not to break the barriers between musical genres, “but to blur them a little to see what’s in between.”

ATP: An album that everyone should listen to

ATP is the Spanish acronym for I Still Think about You, an album that with 17 tracks.

The project wraps us in a complete experience, complemented not only by the ambiance of the songs, but with multiple skits set in a radio show “Radio ATP 30.9″.

Through comedy, NSQK introduces and prepares us for the vibe of the following songs, for which one of the most famous streamers in Mexico “El Mariana” lends his voice.

“Do you think about me?” is the question that accompanies us through multiple tracks released before this album such as “COMETIERRA REMIX”.  The question is answered throughout the album on multiple occasions, accompanying NSQK in his process of searching for his own sound and musical identity.

Without a doubt this album is a project that has something for every taste, so if you are looking to add songs to your playlist I present my top 3:

1. Aún te pienso

A mix of Rap and R&B opens the album, it is a melancholic song that talks about the heartbreak where you still hope that the person is still living a good life even without you.

2. MIATA ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ ft. El Malilla

My favorite song on the album, which was made in collaboration with one of the biggest names in Mexican Reggaeton, presents a mix of R&B and Reggaeton.

3. RIP PETE

This track closes the album, and is based on a dream that NSQK himself had with his deceased uncle, presents a song with a revealing vibe where he questions the fame and the consequences of this.

By releasing an album complete with skits and comedy, NSQK is ushering in a new style of musical artistry.

Young people get an opportunity to listen to the music, but also get a glimpse into who he is as an artist and individual.

NSQK’s approach to this new album could change the game for future artists in Mexico, boosting Gen Z’s taste for a more personal and experimental approach to project.
