The popular sustainably packaged water brand now has plans to reach 2 million planted trees in partnership with the National Forest Foundation.
Boxed Water has managed to reach its 2020 goal of planting 1 million trees across the US after a five year social media campaign. It will now continue indefinitely with the initiative and is dedicated to planting another million in the near future.
Trees have been planted in various National Forest’s throughout the US including Sierra, Florida, Wisconsin, and Michigan, among others. Areas that are in desperate need of new trees due to wildfires, flooding, and other natural disasters are given priority, though demand for reforestation currently outweighs the influx of new trees.
Over 1 million acres of National Forest are still in need of reforestation in the US alone and we’re likely to see further demand as weather extremities continue to become more common as a result of climate change. We’ll need to see more companies take these kind of steps to help our forests this decade and this certainly is a great start.
If you want to get involved to help lower the gap, all you need to do is visit the Boxed Water submission page and name your tree, or post an Instagram picture with the hashtag #BetterPlanet. If you tag @BoxedWater on Twitter and Instagram that’ll work too, though you can’t name your tree if you do it that way. Which is the most important part of this whole thing, of course.
Boxed Water uses 92% plant-based packaging – the highest rate in the beverage industry – and only sources paper from well managed forests. Its cartons are shipped flat to reduce transportation needs and each one is both recyclable and refillable. Sustainable cardboard packaging like this is far better than traditional plastic bottles and as soon as these begin to replace our usual habits we could see dips in plastic production and consumption.
There are plenty of places you can donate cash if you want to get involved outside of Boxed Water too. Popular YouTuber Mr Beast also undertook a similar project last year, raising enough money to plant 22 million trees across the globe. The site still receives donations and remains active. Other projects include the Trillion Tree Campaign and the World Land Trust’s Plant a Tree initiative. 26 tree planting fundraisers are also available through Tree Nation, which operates internationally.
Here’s to even more trees being planted through Boxed Water and other sustainable brands. Less plastic, more densely packed forests, and better packaging is all vital for the future of our planet, and you can name a newly planted tree whatever you like, which is true freedom.

The ongoing Winter Olympic Games have seen many acts of defiance against the Trump administration. How will the situation play out when the US hosts in 2028?
When Baron Pierre de Coubertin revived the Olympics in 1896, one of his main aims was to promote mutual understanding among athletes. He believed that competing on the track instead of the battlefield could encourage peace and help prevent war.
However, countless...

Why has the precedent that ‘British culture is dying’ invaded every aspect of our lives recently? From TikTok commentary to culture-war politics, who is really influencing the supposed shift in British culture?
Claims that Muslims and BAME communities are erasing British culture have become a popular rhetoric in recent political spheres in the UK, but also around the Global North as a whole. Popular, but not new.
Here's my take...
Findings suggest women' s professional development was only a priority for half of US businesses in 2025.
‘Many companies are overlooking women – and it’s crucial that they don’t,’ reads the opening line of the 2025 Women in the Workplace report. What follows is no more encouraging. The state of play across the corporate landscape is pretty dire where gender parity is concerned.
The standout finding was that only half...
