Put safety first with these vegan, padlocked sneakers

If you’ve ever splashed out on a pair of expensive sneakers only to live in fear that they’ll get stolen, check out the new Rombaut X IDEA collab combining sustainable fashion with safety.

Modernising mindsets and protecting environmental biodiversity is at the heart of Rombaut. The progressive company is totally eco-friendly, using innovative, plant-based materials to create their products.

Partnered with IDEA, the “coolest publisher in the world” with their own collection of wearables, the two have come together to add some flare to an already ‘perfect shoe’.

Dropping today, the chunky, vegan leather sneakers maintain the minimalistic design that’s true to Rombaut’s original Boccaccios with embossed branding on the side and heel, but have been remixed to feature a quirky, bright combination padlock attached to the laces.

“We always wanted to do a sneaker collaboration where we didn’t change anything,” said IDEA’s David Owen in a statement. “We just added a special something extra.”

Unlocking with the code ‘IDEA’ by twisting the colourful rotating letters, the ‘anti-theft’ padlock makes for a striking contrast against the almost all-white sneaker and is fully functional so you can use it when you go to the gym (or more realistically, to protect the snack stash you have hiding under your bed).

Only 20 pairs of the conscious kicks will be available from June 13th to 20th as part of a “Vegan Post-Modern” instillation at Dover Street Market London so head down there to get your hands on the newest addition to sustainable footwear.
