Unconventional as ever, Lady Gaga will launch her bold new makeup line Haus Laboratories exclusively on Amazon.
‘The last thing the world needs is another beauty brand,’ begins the promo video for Lady Gaga’s new makeup line Haus Laboratories. ‘Too bad!’ continues her voice-over. It’s clear the pop icon is set to take over the beauty world, commencing in just four days when pre-sale will open on the HAUSLABS website after a year-long wait and a whole lotta hints.

The Oscar-winning artist’s eclectic range will be the first major cosmetics brand ever released by Amazon. Her reason for this? ‘No message of self-acceptance, no deal,’ she told The Business of Fashion.
Concerned that companies often push entrepreneurs to comply with their corporate image, Gaga chose to partner with online retail giant, Amazon, as their goal to democratise beauty is also at the heart of her first business venture.
‘There are companies that see me, what I stand for and the way that I view the world, and if it’s not perfectly in line with what they do and they’re worried about alienating consumers they’ll tell me to change half of the equation,’ she said.
Even though Amazon are not asking for any specific changes, it’s quite interesting that Gaga made this choice given the ‘e-tailer’s’ history with monopolistic behavior and anti-competitive practices. Perhaps it’s justified, however, as their deal is the first of its kind for Amazon and it’s an exciting opportunity for them to branch out from working with mass brands.
Plus, their logistics network means that customers will receive their orders within one or two days, which greatly appeals to Gaga who said: ‘We’re making these beauty products available at the exact same time to everybody globally through the online channels. It’s a really interesting way to think about how this is turning beauty on its head.’
