Adidas launches collab with Prada

Adidas has officially launched its highly anticipated collab with Italian fashion house Prada: a limited-edition pair of Superstar sneakers and a classic bowling bag.

Prada and Adidas have officially launched their highly anticipated collaboration after releasing multiple teasers earlier this month. The sports brand and fashion label have teamed up for a limited-edition joint range which will be available to purchase on December 4 at select retailers around the world and on their respective websites.

The two items in the collection include an updated version of the signature Adidas Originals Superstar sneaker and a bowling bag-meets-gym bag which comes in both black and white with contrast piping, a nylon strap, and co-branding placement.

The Superstar was first created over 50 years ago and quickly became Adidas’ most popular shoe, particularly among more that 75% of NBA players who jumped to cop the trainers within a few years of their initial launch. ‘The sneaker does not require being redesigned,’ said Prada x Adidas during a press release because it has ‘crossed boundaries and challenged definitions through five decades.’ As a result, the Superstar has only been tweaked ever so slightly to incorporate Prada, with a succinct and subtle makeover.

Adding the Italian fashion house’s traditional full-grain leather to the shoe’s upper and maintaining Adidas’ famous rubber shell toe, the classic herringbone outsole makes a return. Markings of the luxury label can be found on the tongue and insole, with ‘Made in Italy’ stamped towards the ankle promising ultimate quality.

The sneaker also comes in both black and white colourways in an effort to be ‘sharp, simple, and immediately recognisable.’ Only 700 pairs have been made, so get in there quick before they’re all gone. We don’t know exactly how much they’ll cost yet, but rumours suggest it’ll be anywhere ranging from £45 to £120.
