This year, Idris Elba has used clothing to make his presence known in social change and fashion. His run continues with 2HR SET, a fashion drop inspired by music, DJ sets, and two-hour productivity.
While Idris Elba is probably best known for his lead role in Luther, and the upcoming Fast And Furious spin-off, he frequently dips his toes into other industries, including music and fashion design. It’s safe to say he’s pretty fly.
His new 2HR SET fittingly draws on both, reflecting his eclectic interests that stretch beyond the cameras. Having spent several years hitting up British festival slots as a late-night DJ, he’s made himself known on the music scene, even having a guest verse on Wiley’s track ‘Boasty’ that dropped in 2018.

Idris has incorporated this love of music into the new apparel, which includes unisex hoodies, sweats, and tees. The ‘2HR’ name refers to his belief in the ‘two-hour window’ of productivity that he reckons is the best way to work. We’ll take your word on that one, Idris. The designs are mostly minimal, streetstyle wear, serving as a perfect ode to DJ culture. A range of different looks are available, though most rock the distinct 2HR SET logo designs.
We’ve been fans of Idris for a while here at the office, particularly given his focus on social change earlier this year.
In March, Idris attended the National Film Awards – taking home the best director trophy for his work on Yardie – and revealed a shirt that bluntly stated, ‘don’t stab your future’. Idris also took to Instagram to urge more celebrities to speak out about knife crime in London, which has become an increasingly concerning issue in Britain in recent years. 2019 has seen the most fatalities due to knife crime ever in the UK, with 100 deaths already reached by May. Drawing attention to the problem is more important than ever, and we commend Idris for taking it head on.
You can check out some charities that are helping to bring about change here, including ‘Live Your Life Drop The Knife’ and ‘Your Choice Your Future’. You can also visit Idris’ 2HR SET clothing line website if you fancy copping some fresh merch from the man himself.
It’s always fun to Stan celebrities, but even more fun when you know they’re putting their ability to spread positive messages into good use. Idris may have risen the ranks of fame, but he remains an advocate for his hometown of London and continues to strive for a safer capital.
